It was not so long ago when the mobile device behemoth Samsung released the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Aside from the usual array of specs (eye-popping visual display, powerful chipset, larger screen size), this smartphone gave rise to the concept of a “curved” design.

And now, Samsung has released yet another new mobile device on the market: the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. At first glance, it seems that these devices do not have anything substantial to bring to the table. But if you hold them in your hands, you will discover that they are more than just a slightly evolved form of their predecessor.

These new devices follow the design of the S6 and S6 Edge, which means that they still have the elegant metallic rims and glass side covers.

The rear of the two devices is more rounded compared to their predecessors, making them more convenient to hold.

Both smartphones feature a 5 inch Super AMOLED display. In terms of screen resolution, both S7 and S7 Edge have a 2,560 x 1440 density. The difference is that the former has a 577 ppi and the latter has a 534 ppi. Both screen offer stunning visuals.

The colors they produce are rich and accurate. Samsung also improved their technology so that the colors will not become over-saturated, even with a Super AMOLED screen. This makes it more convenient for streaming your favorite television shows and movies.

With such powerful specs, watching HD videos or playing graphics-intensive games will not become a problem. In addition, you can also use this processing power for handling multimedia tasks such as video and photo editing.

If you love taking selfies or stunning landscape photographs of your trips abroad, you will be delighted to know that Samsung retained their advanced camera technology.

Both devices have a 12 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front snapper with image stabilization and an F/1.7 lens. They also boast of a 1/2.6” sensor so you can easily take pictures of moving subjects.

Both devices can also record videos in 4K resolution. With a large megapixel count, you can use these cameras for snapping quality photos in poorly-lit environments.

Battery life

The S7 Edge is the winner in this department thanks to its 3600 mAh lithium ion battery. The S7 uses a 3000 mAh battery. This is quite a bit leap for the Galaxy line.
